My English reference book says it is possible to put an adverbial participle phrase between the subject and the predicate verb, or after or before the main clause, For example, ?She, looking over Lake Victoria, stood on the shore.
?She stood on the shore(,) looking over Lake Victoria. ?Looking over Lake Victoria, she stood on the shore. The reference book says all these sentences are correct and almost the same in meaning. When I asked about it the other day, I was taught that type? was awkward. Which is correct?
