Could you please tell me which of the variants is grammatically correct? 1. Built in the15th century, THE church is in need of repair. 2. Built in the 15th century church is in need of repair. In both cases we use participle II, but it isn't clear to me from grammatical point of view when we should use the article before the subject and when not.
