Participle can modify verb ?
Hello,
I was wondering if participle can modify verb :
He sat surrounded by the children.
She came running out of the room.
Past participle 'surrounded' and present participle 'running' are used as Modifier
like Adverb : They are modifying the verbs 'sat' and 'came' respectively.
This is my theory.
However, many friends of mine consider two participles
as a special kind of 'Complement'.
Could you show me some examples in which Participle plays a role as adverb
modifying verbs ?
