I feel both are wrong. I would say like this:
The bus that crashed yesterday was carrying 10 passengers.

Well Paco, you are right. When I read the first message I thought there were three options, the following being the first one: A bus crashed yesterday. It was carrying 10 passengers. And that's why I said the first one was correct. Now that I read the message again, I see that only two options were provided. Both were wrong.
