participial phrase

1. It turns and looks into the camera, raising its eyebrows and smiling.
2. A cat with a hat and in boots fights with villains showing off his
splendid fencing skills.
3. A cat with a hat and in boots fights with villains, showing off his

Q) I was wondering why there's no comma before "showing" in #2 when there is a comma in front of "raising" in #1. Does the implied meaning or something change if a comma is added in front of "showing" in #3?
