part with/from

Lata parted with her mother with tears.

As per my book it should be 'parted from'. Please tell me the difference between 'part with' and 'part from' with example.

I would use 'part with' when speaking of objects or possessions. To me, 'part from' is for being separated from a person.

You part with something you give/throw away or sell. You part from a person when you leave them. Personally, I don't use 'part from' much, I'd say, for example, Lata and her mother parted in tears.
