Part of speech of "Beginning"?

Please look at the following sentence.

"Beginning next month, all software training sessions will be administered over the Internet"

What part of speech is "Beginning"? Looks its meaning is "from" and a preposition.
But my dictionary does not have any explanation that "Beginning" can be a preposition.

Could you confirm it to me?

Thank you for your answer in advance.
