Part of speech of a phrase

Hi Everyone,

I just came across this sentence and I didn't know what part of speech the phrase "for another year" belonged. Would anyone please help me out with it Emotion: smile ?

Original Sentence:

John decided to renew my contract for another year.

Is it correct to say that the phrase is an adjective and it post modifies the noun "my contract"?

Is it correct to then write " John decided to renew my contract which is for another year. " and say that they are equivalent to each other?

Is this notion correct?

Could I please kindly ask you guys to help me correct my grammatical mistakes if there is any Emotion: smile ?

Thank you in advance

Kenny
