You are and will always be an important part of Jane and my life. You always helped us to reconcile and for which I'm highly grateful. Jane has told me that how at numerous occasions you were there to help her and absord her tensions. Though I have never met you in persion but I can know from what others have told me and what I can imagine about you that how a wonderful and sensible person you are. We are going to miss you a lot. It will be very hard for Jane to live without you. She was more close to you than her sister. I will also miss you. Since last week Jane was really worried that what she is going to do once you leave. You were now family. But all this pain of separation comes with happiness when we think that you are going to get married.

Is the use of but forbidden in that sentence? but is used to introduce the part of the sentence which gives explanation for how I know that she is a sensible and wonderful person, even though I haven't met her in person.

"But" would be redundant, since it serves the same identical function as "Though." You need to choose one or the other, but not both. - A.
