paraphernalia?

I've looked it up in the dictionary, but I still don't know what it means. What does it mean when someone's interests include "paraphernalia"?

As your dictionary will have told you, paraphernalia means all the stuff connected with something. For example, sewing paraphernalia would be needles, threads, thimbles, fabric, and so on; birdwatching paraphernalia might include binoculars, notebooks, guidebooks, maps... You need to check your source to see what kind of paraphernalia the person is interested in.

  • It can't be just paraphernalia on its own.
