Parallelism Grammar?

Dear all,

I was wondering if the following sentence could be considered incorrect because of faulty parallelism:

"The detailed yet readable biography is well researched and provides valuable insight into the facts that motivated the famous philosopher."

Simpler version: "The biography IS researched and PROVIDES insight."

I.e., is it okay to have a be-verb and then a verb, or do these two have to be of the same form?

Thanks a bunch!

Bryan
