I learned paragraph writing by using four bases: Unity, Details, Coherence, and Sentence Skills. Many books on paragraph writing use different terms though, and this is getting me a bit confused.
One particular book I am using uses "Main Idea" as an initial requirement to develop a paragraph; however it does not use the term "topic sentence" at this initial step. Would it be safe to say that a "topic sentence" is made up of a particular "main idea" that will be developed using details? I would appreciate your input.
