Paragraph

This is for an essay.

I would like to know if the second paragraph is correct (and the first is given for context):

"As predicted by Paul the octopus, in the 2010 World Cup, Germany was eliminated in the semi-finals by Spain, which understandably left the German fans quite heart-broken.

After that game, some German fans, in parody, got to order Paul the octopus to be plunged in a pan, and in his defense, with the same tone, the prime-minister of Spain proposed to offer asylum to Paul the octopus."

THANK YOU.

Christine Christie I would like to know if the second paragraph is correct It is not. "In parody" does not work. I think you mean "in jest".
