My son is one of (the) two children in his class who were chosen to represent his school kindergarden in a/the spelling B contest. I am so proud of him and even if he does not come out the winner I will still be proud of him and of all that he has accomplished this school year.

Note: A spelling bee

(No need for "contest" -- that's what a spelling bee is.)
