Paradise Lost

Has anyone read Milton's Paradise Lost? If so, can you help me? I have a class tomorrow in which I have to know to whom the invocation is addressed. I think that it might be the Holy Spirit, but I have no clue!!! :')

Hello Erin I've only just seen your post, so am probably too late. If you mean the first lines of Book I, I would agree that Milton's 'Heav'nly Muse' is the Holy Spirit. The lines imitate the opening of Homer's Iliad.
