'Parade or pageant ?'

Please, I would like to know if in relation to top models and fashion in general, we use the word pageant or parade?

For example: During the parade (pageant ?) the top models showed off the winter collection.

Thanks in advance;

"parade" is the correct word.

Why is 'parade' not capitalised although it begins a sentence? I myself also do the same thing, but I would like to know whether it should be in capital.

Because if it were dropped right into the sentence, it would be lower case there.

Also because I was talking on the telephone while typing and couldn't use the shift key!

Just a clarification - in your original sentence, it should not be capitalized.

I ought to have started my reply with a capital letter as it was the first word in the sentence, but was too busy/lazy to use the shift key.

So keep your sentence as it is!

However, Feebs seems to be quite correct in terms of frequency:

1 from bbc.co.uk for "fashion pageant"
747 from bbc.co.uk for "fashion parade".
