"parachute from the spacecraft"

Salaam

I wonder if "from the" in the following sentence points out that the parachute of the spacecraft (possession) or does it mean that the parachute was separated from the spacecraft (separation).

Could you please clarify it? Thanks in advance!

"When Gagarin is 7 km above sea level, he uses the ejection seat to leave the cabin and at 2.5 km the main parachute from the spacecraft opens."
