I would use "pan" only in the context of film production. The camera pans across the scene.
So I would use Ex-2 in the context you've presented here.

I'm not so comfortable with "zoom the graph" either, but then I may not be so familiar with how people are using these terms in the context of computer images.

Vorpar"Scroll" means up/down
At the bottom of my screen I have what I think is called a scroll bar. It moves the screen image from left to right. So is it really a pan bar? I've never heard of that.

You're right, on a computer, scroll is used for both, but "pan" is only left/right. Can't find any reference to "pan bars".

You can use "scroll" in the place of "pan" in computer contexts and the meaning would still be clear. The problem with the word "pan" is that it has certain negative connotations: to pan a movie means to abusively criticize it; there is a Greek *** named Pan, who is a controversial figure; the terms "frying pan" and "pots and pans" are often is used in less-than-positive contexts.
