Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary : palm sth 'off as sth (informal) to tell sb that sth is better than it is, especially in order to sell it
New Oxford American Dictionary : palm sth off : sell or dispose of sth by msrepresentation or fraud.
Which dictionary is right? The definitions of the two dictionaries are similar, but strictly speaking, they are obviosly different : the former only shows an 'attempt' but the latter shows not only an attempt but also a 'success'
