"palate of cigarettes" ?

Hi,

I'm reading a book and the below is the one I can't be sure. It says, "pull out a palate of cigarettes" but I suppose it's actually "pallet of cigarettes" but can't be sure. "palate of cigarettes" have any special meaning?

The guy from 115 comes out and they all walk outside to the U-Haul and open the back. They pull out a palate of cigarettes. There's too many to count. Countless Cartons. Maybe 1,000.

Thanks,
M
