Paid under the table

Hey my EnglishForward friends,

Please what does it mean if I say about someone that he is being paid under the table? It doesn't sound me like an idiom, but who knows..Maybe I'm blind, but I didn't find it at the freedictionary..:-(. But I'm sure that you native speakers know the meaning....thx.

Yes, absolutely I know this one! When someone is paid under the table, he is not an official employee of the person who is paying him. No record of his pay is made, no taxes are taken out, etc.
