I just wrote this essay for VCU . I was wondering if there is anything you recommend me change.
Going through an old limited edition bag I thought would impress my classmates and quench my thirst to be accepted, I find some old manila folders. The front covered with artwork that represented the finer things in life. The things I would do on a daily basis when I was in my prime as a teen, I find a thin pack of paper with a staple in the upper left corner almost angled at ninety degrees, barely holding the crinkled sheets together. I stare and try to avoid but can’t help to reminisce on this time. The kid who I reminisced, the body of an athletic person, though he played no major sport. He had a smile that would brighten your day through the roughest times. He was a kid that finally released the shyness from his inner soul, expressing his opinions and feelings with any and every one. The time I reminisces was a period where I had nothing but a seven ply piece of wood with four wheels that got me just about everywhere. This piece of wood was my best friend throughout teen days; it brought me friends and fun, all that I could possibly want back then. Skateboarding inside a basement with close friends, I hear the sound of heels hitting wood. Around the corner came a lady with some mail still sealed, but with a smile she handed the letter to my friend. He glanced at the front of the letter and nervously opened the letter. He glanced up with a shocked look on his face, and then all of a sudden joy washed upon his face as he read the word “ accepted “. Now all the pressure was on me; my heart pounding with pressure and anxiety. I rush a few blocks down through the dark night, running up the steps like I was Rocky, I burst thought the door looking through all the mail on the granite counters. I find the logo I was looking for and patiently tear the seal on the envelope. As I unfolded the letter inside the envelop I turn my face away. As my mind built up enough confidence to look at the paper, everything around me slowly blurred up; sound, I couldn’t hear a thing. I slowly turned my head and read the paper; “You’ve been accepted”. Those three words changed my life forever. I’ve finally been accepted
