O/Zero

Hello teachers! May you ask me please? What is the difference between pronunciation of just 'O' as 'Zero' and the full form 'Zero'.
For example: '3234570' - telephone number, pronunced 'three, two, three, four, five, seven, O' and 'three, two, three, four, five, seven, zero.
But please I don't want the answer: 'There's no difference', I need the full answer what the difference is because it's very important.
Thanks

People often say the letter "O" when they mean "zero" simply because they look the same and "O" is shorter. They are saying the name of the letter "O". It's like a nickname.

Hi there Veronica, we pronounce the letter O with telephone numbers. That's all there is to it.

Hi,

British people say nought instead of zero,

At least, they did when I lived there.
