Oxford Guide to Style

The Oxford Guide to Style supports the following for the plurals of letters and words:

‘a’s / ‘L’s / ‘maybe’s

My question: If the plural of the word is formed by adding -es, which would be the correct choice below by following Oxford's format?

‘whereas’es (I say this one.)

‘whereas’s

Thank you.

Okay, Aspara Gus. Aside from italicization, would you (if forced) go with ‘whereas’s or ‘whereas’es?
