What is the difference between 'owing to' and 'because of'? My dictionary says 'owing to' is formal, but other than that it doesn't differentiate it from because of.
And now that I come to think about it, do you think 'owing' in 'owing to' is actually the present participle of 'owe'?
Thanks in advance
