Overwhelmingly the most?

Hello! I have a small question to ask. I'm doing an essay on comparing people's marital status. And those who has been married is the most, and the number is overwhelming compared to other status. Is it ok for me to paraphrase it into: "Those who have been married was overwhelmingly the most"?? I googled but found no same expression, so i really want to no if it makes sense to native English speakers. Could you please help me? Thank you!!!!!:)
