Overpopulation of urban areas has lead to numerous problems . Identify one or two serious ones and suggest ways that governments and individuals can...

There is an irrefutable fact that, due to the overpopulation in various metropolitan areas, an enormous number of issues have been created. In the following paragraphs, after elaborating on the consequences of this important issue, some measures that can be employed to tackle it will be provided.

Overpopulation has numerous considerable effects on humans and the environment. Initially, overpopulation can lead to higher living costs, as well as the rising of homelessness. Resource depletion, water shortage, under the condition of the increasing demands will provoke an increase in the cost of living, whereby only a percentage of the population will be able to cover all their needs, while the others will become homeless. In addition, another further pressure will include the degradation of the environment. The unbridled usage of natural resources will result in deforestation, air pollution and global warming.

There are some potential solutions to address the issue of overpopulation. First of all, one of the most efficient measures would be to develop better sex education programs. The lack of sex education has led to overpopulation issues in many countries. Better education will help people understand more about the potential consequences of having sex as they relate to childbirth and then introduce scientifically-proven methods of birth control. A second way would be for the government to change the policy about birth control. By stop offering rewards, whether in the form of financial incentives or increased benefits to those who have more children and passing regulations on family planning, overpopulation could be terminated.

In conclusion, the downside would emerge consequently in terms of higher living costs and nature’s degradation. Nevertheless, there are feasible solutions that can be implemented to solve the problems that are certain to arise as the populations of countries grow older.
