overall view

Can I say an "overall view of a spectrometer"?
There is a real picture of a spectrometer in Fig. 1, what should I call it ?

Top answer

If you mean the caption, "Spectrometer". Note that captions normally do not take closing punctuation. If you are wondering how to reference it in the text, say that figure 1 is a picture of a spectrometer.

Thanks, totally agree.
I can perhaps say "The photograph of the spectrometer" (there is a real picture of it).

"in the frame of the presented procedure, the mass resolution appeared to occur about 8amu"
I think it's totally wrong, am I right? Should be something like "within the presented procedure". Any suggestions?

That's fine.

It is not surprising that such rather inconsistent procedure of mass reconstruction gives biased values of the parameters. For instance, in the frame of the presented procedure, the mass resolution was estimated to be approximately 8 amu.

One more question.:-)
The mass resolution for X was estimated to be approximately 8 amu, while the mass resolution estimated, following the measurements with monochromatic ions, did not exceed 3.3 amu.

One more? I don't believe that. And I think you made up monochromatic ions.

Why "arrived at"? It's sort of slang?

No. It is vague, because I do not know what was done, exactly. A more specific verb would be better.
