Over the course of his life...

Hi!

I have a question regarding the tense which should go with "Over the course of his life". Should I write "Over the course of his life, he has written 15 books" or "Over the course of his life, he wrote 15 books"?

Thank you!

If he's dead, you can't use this one. You'll have to use "wrote".

"has written" would be OK if he's still alive.
