over-ingestion

Hi, couldn't find this word in a dictionary. Can you help me with the meaning, please?

Thank you.

Ingest = to take into the body by the mouth (eat/drink, basically). So, an over-ingestion would be overeating, drinking too much, or taking an overdose of drugs.

I read in the article that some traces of fluoride in water cause overingestion (overeating...). Is that possible? Must be.

Thank you.

Hi,
I'd like to add a small extra comment.

When I see the word 'ingest', it always seems to refer to swallowing something that you shouldn't, something that is often harmful.

eg It sounds odd to say I ingested my lunch at 1 pm today.

eg It sounds fine to say Doctors say that the infant ingested two buttons and a penny.
