Is that sentence correct?

Yes. I would infer that she is quite young if "over forty" is worth mentioning.

Well, she is twenty-six.

I want to revise - a man who is over forty is, in my opinion, preferable. Although your version is cerainly understood and probably used a great deal.

Hi,

a man who is over forty is, in my opinion, preferable. Oh, yeah?

She said she was having an affair with a man over forty.

Better, I suppose, than She said she was having an affair with over forty men.

Yikes!

(Sorry, I totally missed the "an.")

You think "a man over forty" is better than "a man who is over forty"? I had that first, then changed my mind. I don't think either is incorret though, do you?

Hi,

It wasn't your grammar preferences that I was 'Oh yeah'-ing about. Emotion: wink

Best wishes, Clive
