Just as I thought.

Is it the same kind as 'over Sunday/weekend/Christmas'?

Yes. I think that's close enough. It depends how exacting you want to be.

The two may be just a shade different, because, for example, "over the weekend" can be paraphrased "during the weekend", and the meaning in the sentence at the top of the thread can't be paraphrased with "during" because "occurences" isn't a temporal concept. Same general idea, though.

The reason for my little confusion, I think, was that it was not possible to replace the 'over' with 'during', as you pointed out. But it's in the same category. Good. Thanks, Jim!
