Outside of<= ?

I saw the blood bank bus parked outside of my company.

All I know about the use of outside is outside plus a noun and not like outside + a preposition + a noun.

Q) Is outside and outside of just the same? but a different part of speech?(preposition and __?)

outside of is just another preposition -- a compound preposition. It's a variant of outside . So the "of" is optional.
