Outing?

Hi, what is the meaning of outing in this text?

He had two seasons tickets to the Bruins, and he needed two additional tickets for the outing.

Thanks

Anonymous outing an event like a picnic or a tour of the sights; an event where people go out to some interesting place It says ' the outing' so I suspect the exact nature of the outing was made clear earlier in the text. CJ

The 'outing' is a trip 'out', usually for pleasure and usually not involving an overnight stay. 'He' wanted to go out to see the Bruins - that was the 'outing' being talked about.
