Out-of-the-box

Hi all

Could somebody tell me what the adjective "out-of-the-box" means?
What I found in my dictionary does not sound convincing,
it says "creative" or "original".

In my context the word modifies "templates".
"Out-of-the-box templates" sounds like, to me at least, "templates
that you can start using as they are".
Could anyone confirm that?

Regards,

Pom
