Hi everybody,

There are this use of 'out of'. By definition (Longman) it is:

because of a particular feeling that you have
The examples:

They obeyed him out of fear rather than respect.

Just out of curiosity, why did you take that job?

Is it ok with every feeling? Could you mention some common ones?



I guess (but I'm not sure) I saw something like this:


I played chess out of practice yesterday.


Is it correct? (I guess it is something like: the goal was to get used to chess again)


'practice' is not a feeling but I didn't find this meaning in the dictionary. Could you show me one?
