"I m gonna make a belt out of you" ? I heard this

can I say this like,
"I m gonna make a belt from you"?
I m gonna make a belt off you"?

I've never heard this expression, but it sounds like a threat to skin the person alive, tan their hide, and make a belt. It's horrible and gruesome! Are you sure you heard it correctly?

Are you sure you heard it correctly? "Make a fool out of you" is an expression meaning to cause a person to act in a foolish way.

Given the situation any other phrasing would not have the intended humorous effect.
