Out of

Hello, I have a question about the utilisation of "out of" in the following sentence:

"Durind the day armed men had positioned themselves around the beach out of fear of a Japanese attack"

Seeing dictionaries I see that this "out of" has a lot of significations and utilised in many differents situations.

So, I would like to know how (or which) it's most frequently utilised.
