Out in the world

I know you may believe that collateral is unnecessary between friends. But anyone who has been out in the world at all can tell you that many of these personal loans are never repaid

Hi, Would anyone explain the meaning of "out in the world"?

I looked it up on on an online dictionary, but the definition seems to me that it does not fit in the context, because I think it refers to be sophisticated. Thanks.

out of this world

1. Fig. wonderful and exciting. This pie is out of this world. My boyfriend is just out of this world.2. intoxicated. Man, is she ever out of this world! What did she drink? He drank until he was out of this world.https://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/out+of+this+world
