out from/outward from

If I live in an area thst is closer to the city centre than an area I'm talking about, can I say:
Xy is out from z(the place I live at)
Or
Xy is outward from z?
Can I reverse it and say:
Xy is in from z
Or
Xy is inward from z?
Thank you!

X is farther out of town than Z
Z is closer to downtown than X

Those statements are unclear and unnatural.

I suggest
eg Xy is further from / closer to downtown than my place is.

Are they correct though? Would people get the right idea of what I'm talking about if I say one of these? Is there an other way to say 'farther out of town' and 'closer to downtown' leaving out downtown. I simply want to say it's more in or more out than us. Is it ok like this?
Thanks

No; I would be confused. They are very non-native.
Repi. I simply want to say it's more in or more out than us.
(X) 'In' or (X) 'out' from where, then?

In a scenario where a flatmate of yours asks where is an area within the same city you live in. You just simply want to say that it is 'more out' than where you live. How can I say that?
Thanks!

You must still relate it to some reference point—which, in a city, is 'downtown' or 'city centre'.
