Our satellite will reach the sky

Are the following sentences correct?

What's the difference?

The satellite will reach the sky over Paris in ten minutes.

The satellite will reach the skies over Paris in ten minutes.

I think 'sky' is only one so the second sentence is wrong.

Both seem OK to me. 'Skies' is a more literary, 'poetic' term.

Hi,

Do you imagine plural 'skies' when you hear the second sentence?

If you do, where are the plural 'skies'? I uaually see only one sky above me at a certain moment like 'in ten minutes'.

Hi,

You're welcome.

Like I said, it's a literary, 'poetic' kind of term.
