Our and hour

Hi!

can someone tell me if the "h" in word "hour" has to be pronounced?

If I do not pronounce it, it may sound like "our" and not "hour"

Am I right?

There is no sound of "h" in "hour". So it will be pronounced as "our" only.

Hour is one of the four english words (and their derivatives) where the initial "h" is not pronounced. The others are:

Heir

Honour/ Honor

Honest

and for the Americans, Herb. Though they pronounce the "h" in the name Herb so go figure
