our abilities don't fit in the outside world

This is a line from a movie "Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children":

Miss Peregrine: [to Jacob] Because our abilities don't fit in the outside world we live in places like this, where no one can find us.
I guess the use of 'fit in' here is natural, this line being part of a movie and all that.
That said, is it natural to add some other preposition after "fit in" as follows?

(1) Because our abilities don't fit in with the outside world we live in places like this...
(2) Because our abilities don't fit in in the outside world we live in places like this...

Also, how about these alternatives? Are any of these natural?

(3) Because we don't fit in the outside world we live in places like this...
(4) Because we don't fit in with the outside world we live in places like this...
(5) Because we don't fit in in the outside world we live in places like this...

This is an interesting, good question. Some people claim that "fit in" is a two word verb. This can be supported with sentences like this: He doesn't fit in.

Those people also claim that "fit in" is a two word verb that can be followed by a preposition like "with." It could also be considered a three-word verb: fit in with. But "fit in in" is not such

Thanks for the detailed explanation.

I think I get the syntax of it all, but I still need to know if any of the variations (1) through (5) sound natural in this context. Could you tell me what you think of each of those variations?
