Other/another

"There's no other way to do it".

Why do we use other here? I would use another in this case.

Another is wrong. Another is the combination of two determiners "an + other" (one + other). These are OK: There is another (one other) way to do it.

Another is wrong.

Another is the combination of two determiners "an + other" (one + other). These are OK:

There is another (one other) way to do it. 
There isn't another way to do it.

You cannot use another determiner (no) in front of "another."

There is no other way to do it.
