I have got an unseen and there is a question: "Besides enabling a person to carry his or her things, what other function can a backpack serve, according to Mr.Nature?
According to what I have been explained about usage of other\another it should have been "another" here (it is one different, not specified function). What do you think? Tnanks in advance

Once I asked here a question about the usage of other\another and I was told that other implies about pliral and "another" implies abiut singular. (so are: the other - singular; the others - plural). Isn't it correct? Can you please interpret a bit? Thanks
