Other than present perfect possible with "since"?

Hi. Please help. Is it possible to have a tense other than the present perfect tense when a sentence contains a time phrase or clause (or a time phrase or clause that seems to denote a time) that starts with the word "since"? I think the example sentence below is such a sentence.

eg,

I saw a difference in his attitude toward his studies since her class, "Math 101."
