Other relief surface?

Hi. Is the word "surface" in this phrase functioning as an uncountable noun or a countable noun? Sorry for not giving you a complete sentence.

in the making of phonograph records, type, or other relief surface

I believe we can use the word "other" in this phrase to refer to another writing instrument. Thank you in advance for your help.

eg,

by using a pencil and other writing instrument
