Other players or the other players?

Hi. Please tell me if we can replace the phrase "the other players" with the phrase "other players" in this definition for the phrase "HIDE-AND-SEEK" in AudioEnglish.org. Also, if the phrase "the other players" were "the others" instead, would it be correct to use the word "others" without the definite article "the"? Still one more question: Is it correct to use the pronoun "their" instead of "his" before the word "eyes"? Sorry for many questions. Any help from you would be appreciated.

1. a game in which a child covers his eyes while the other players hide then tries to find them
