Actually, I sympathize.
We'd probably be more likely to say, "This expression is new to me" than "This expression is new with me."
But I suspect both are correct.
To my ear, the sense of "to" is a bit different in the two examples.
I take the Mormon example as "attributed to."

It helps me to rewrite sentences while it is really seems impossible to my mind understand it, really never saw someone wrote "with me" better to stay with the first option thanks!
