There are a couple of things we teachers haven't quite mastered yet, even though we are all highly professional volunteers with, more often than not, post-graduate diplomas and above. One of them is mind reading; the other is choosing tomorrows winning loto number.

When you come here with a question you have to provide us with what is known as "context". You have to point us in the right direction and tell us as much as you can about the subject covering your question.

You should have included the link to the P O E M by Gary Soto (either written or on YouTube).

We should not have to scratch our heads and say to ourselves "what on earth does she mean?" we should not have to find out by ourselves where to find Gary Soto's work and/or videos.

To answer your question you will need to listen carefully to the poem and read the lyrics. Not only does the girl get the chocolate but the poem is about first love and the guy gets the girl.
